Hotel Timor, February 06, 2026.
Belun, through its Inclusive Community Capacity Development pillar, has strengthened its partnership with Plan International Timor-Leste (PITL), working alongside Government institutions, national and international civil society organizations, UN agencies, inclusive youth organizations, organizations for people with disabilities, and the LGBTIQ+ community to launch the public information dissemination activity “Together Strengthening Timor-Leste in ASEAN.” The objective is to spread information about the benefits, responsibilities, opportunities, and challenges of Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN.
The activity saw maximum participation and received appreciation from partners and stakeholders. This is because communities, especially youth and people with special needs, need to access and understand information regarding the benefits, responsibilities, opportunities, and challenges we will face as an ASEAN member state. Partners and stakeholders also requested that donor partners, particularly the Government (GASC) and PITL, continue supporting CSOs to share ASEAN-related information in rural and remote areas.
A total of 60 participants attended the event, including representatives from Government institutions, international agencies, UN agencies, National and Local NGOs, Organizations for People with Disabilities, the LGBTIQ+ community, Youth organizations, Women’s organizations, Suco (village) Youth Councils, and media institutions.
This activity was made possible through support from Plan International in Timor-Leste.
