Community Capacity Development is one of the 3 pillars identified in Belun’s strategic plan. Belun develops community capacity through the following programs:

Access Justice Clinic Program

The Access to Justice Clinic Program facilitates mediation training for communities and community leaders. The goal of the program is to improve the community’s capacity and capability to successfully facilitate and mediate disputes in their village (Suku)

Women Peace Security Program

The Women Peace Security Program facilitates training for rural women’s group about prevention and response to conflict. The objective of the program is to improve the ability of women to identify conflict and design, develop and implement actions to prevent and respond the conflict.

Support Community Policing Program

The Support Community Policing Program works with Community Policing to facilitate capacity building (training) to Community members, Veteran Representatives and Traditional Leaders who are members of Suku councils. The objective is to form a Community Policing Council which would work with PNTL to:

    • Identify issues or problems within the Suku
    • Find solutions or if required
    • Refer cases to the PNTL or any other relevant institute.
