PROTECTING VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING THROUGH ENHANCED PARTNERSHIP, IDENTIFICATION AND REFERRAL (PVEPIR)

To achieve the outputs and objectives of this project, Belun has been implementing the following activities:

  • Data collection and reporting on Trafficking in Person (TIP)
  • Training on data collection and Victims on Trafficking (VoT) identification in target districts (Dili and Oecusse) for Belun’s municipal coordinators, volunteer monitors, local leaders and PNTL/National Police-Officer Village Police Officer.

Since March 2016, Belun volunteers have continued monitoring for incidents of human trafficking, in addition to their regular monitoring for violent incidents and changes to the security situation. In total, since monitoring started in March, Early Warning, Early Response monitors have recorded 13 possible incidents of human trafficking.

Volunteer monitors supported by this project also contributed to data used in the EWER system’s for monthly Situation Reviews, and urgent Alerts published in August 2016 on police-military violence and slingshot arrow attacks in Dili and alert on violence against women and girls in July 2016
