Electoral Violence Monitoring Report for Timor-Leste’s 2017 Presidential Election

Belun’s Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) system monitored violence surrounding the presidential election on March 20, 2017. The monitoring was conducted in the period before, during and after the election. 41 mostly minor incidents were registered. The number of recorded incidents is in line with Belun’s pre-election assessment of potential conflict, predicting that “there is low conflict potential, and only minor conflict may occur.”

However, the EWER system still detects many obstacles that must be responded to. Belun continually asks that the relevant institutions and political parties follow up on the recommendations that have been presented in this report. To read full report please go to link below;
